Paper4trees was first introduced to the Taranaki Region in 2008.

Today, a total of 120 schools and preschools are registered with the programme.
This represents 89% of all schools and 33% of all early childhood centres across Taranaki.
 

Between 2008 and 2026, Taranaki schools and preschools have:

• Diverted 4,621 tonnes of paper and cardboard from landfill
               - That is approximately the same weight as 988 elephants. 

• Saved 36,973 cubic metres of landfill space

• Prevented 24,957 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being created in landfill

The recycling efforts of Taranaki schools and preschools have made a difference. To recognise their commitment to recycling, we have rewarded participating schools and preschools with a total of:

17,488 native trees

These trees can be planted in school grounds or throughout local communities, helping to create greener, healthier environments for everyone to enjoy.
