Paper4trees was first introduced to the Southland Region in 2010.

Since then, a total of 138 schools and preschools have joined Paper4trees!
That is the equivalent to 66% of all Southland Region schools and 65% of all Southland Region preschools.
 

Between 2009 and 2024, Southland Region schools and preschools have:

• Diverted 1,598 tonnes of paper and cardboard from landfill
               - That's around the same as 341 elephants!

• Saved 12,787 cubic metres of landfill space

• Prevented 8,631 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being created in landfill

6,641 native trees! to plant in their school grounds or within their local community.
