Paper4trees was first introduced to the Northland Region in 2008.

Today, a total of 218 schools and preschools are registered with the programme.
This represents 83% of all schools and 44% of all early childhood centres across Northland. 
 

Between 2008 and 2026, Northland schools and preschools have:

• Diverted 4,832 tonnes of paper and cardboard from landfill
               - That is approximately the same weight as 1,032 elephants. 

• Saved 38,655 cubic metres of landfill space

• Prevented 26,092 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being created in landfill

The recycling efforts of Northland schools and preschools have made a difference. To recognise their commitment to recycling, we have rewarded participating schools and preschools with a total of:

These trees can be planted in school grounds or throughout local communities, helping to create greener, healthier environments for everyone to enjoy.
