Bay of Plenty
Paper4trees was first introduced to the Bay of Plenty Region in 2001.
Today, a total of 327 schools and preschools are registered with the programme.
This represents 86% of all schools and 52% of all early childhood centres across the Bay of Plenty.
Between 2007 and 2026, Bay of Plenty schools and preschools have:

Diverted 15,117 tonnes of paper and cardboard from landfill
- That is approximately the same weight as 3,230 elephants. -
Saved 120,960 cubic metres of landfill space

Prevented 81,646 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being created in landfill
The recycling efforts of Bay of Plenty schools and preschools have made a difference. To recognise their commitment to recycling, we have rewarded participating schools and preschools with a total of:
53,341 native trees
These trees can be planted in school grounds or throughout local communities, helping to create greener, healthier environments for everyone to enjoy.
